Cannabidiol – Does It Have Any Therapeutic Effects?
CBD is one of the many compounds present in cannabis sativa and known as cannabinoids. For many years, researchers are looking and studying the therapeutic uses of CBD. When we say CBD oil, it is the oil that contains CBD concentrations. However, the uses and concentrations of CBD oils vary.

During the study, a behavioral testing multi-tiered battery was used for 21 days, It was observed that BCCAO mice showed long-lasting functional deficits which were reflected by the increase in their anxiety-like behavior on day 9, also memory impairment from days 12 to 18 and lastly, despair like behavior on day 21.
With the treatment of short-term 10mg/kg CBD, the cannabinoid prevented the emotional and cognitive impairments, white matter injury and attenuated hippocampal neuro-degeneration and reduced glial response, which was induced by BCCAO.
Moreover, ischemic mice that were treated with CBD showed an increase in the hippocampal BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) protein levels.
In the hippocampus BCCAO animals, CBD also triggered promoted dendritic restructuring and neurogenesis. On the whole and as per the results of this study; Short-term CBD oil treatment demonstrated the results in the form of global functional recovery with regards to ischemic mice while impacting distinct and multiple targets that are involved in the pathophysiology of brain’s ischemic injury.
